Cocktail Concoction

Gin Con

I’m not going to lie or deny, I love me some gin. I realize it’s not the most popular of spirits but maybe that’s because people are not using their creativity. There are so many more options out there than just gin and tonics. I usually cut up whatever fruit I’ve got and squeeze it into my shaker with a little gin. This weekend I happened to of stumbled upon my favorite concoction of them all. Now as soon as you read this you’re gonna be like WTF that’s too many ingredients, who has all that shit on hand. But it’s summer people, and I was hosting a BBQ so really what kind of a lame ass BBQ would it be if I didn’t have lots of yummy ingredients on hand? So here’s what I splashed, squeezed and shook into a masterpiece.

  • Couple slices of strawberries
  • More than a couple of slices of cucumber
  • Few slices of oranges
  • Chopped up basil leaf
  • Couple of cubes of watermelon
  • Splash of grenadine
  • Sprinkle of sugar
  • Splash of Cointreau
  • Splash of sweet vermouth (the red kind)
  • Giant pour of gin
  • Ice

Shake shake shake

Pour and top with a little soda water, garnish with whatever is clever.

It’s a real crowd pleaser, I barely had time to get drunk myself I was so busy making these for all my guests. Even the people who claimed to not like gin wanted seconds.

*NOTE: I make my drinks really strong, so if you’re a heavy pourer like me you may want to limit your guest to three drinks.
